What I Learned From My Failed Football Career

You may or may not know the original reason behind my move to Manchester was a contract I received to play for Manchester City Football Club. The 3.5 years I spent kicking the ball around in the UK gave me an insight into a very different world. A world, a life full of fame, money and glamour… at least on the surface, but let’s not deviate too far from the original title. (it could be a post for another day)

When this life ended, trying to adjust to a “normal” lifestyle resulted in a very, very difficult 12 months period when I was 20 years old. Looking back now, I’m pretty sure I was depressed, and it changed me.

New Outlook on Life

My personality, my mindset and my outlook on life is different now, due to that year I spent feeling sorry for myself… I was desperately trying to cling onto the things I enjoyed doing in my “previous” life. Training daily was the only fixed activity (besides school of course) I was used to since I was 4 years old. With football out of the picture, this training shifted towards fitness training.

Within 12 months of finishing my studies and starting work in gyms I met Abby and look at the dreams we’re currently chasing together!

Life Lessons

The lesson I’ve been told is twofold:

  1. You never know what is waiting for you around the corner. I try to think about this regularly, whether things are going well or not.
  2. Physical fitness helped me climb out of a hole my mind tossed me in. Of course, back then I didn’t know anything about the strong connection between mental and physical health, but this simple axiom was one of the main driving forces behind creating P1 FITNESS STUDIO…
